FACES OF HOPE SERIES

Sr. M. Luciana, Brazil

In this testimony, Sister M. Luciana de Almeida shares her mission as the director of a daycare center in Londrina and her daily experience with the children. She speaks about the importance of love, faith, and education in shaping a better future, showing how small gestures can transform lives and generate hope. An inspiring story of vocation, service, and trust in God.

Sr. M. Candace, USA

At the heart of every strong society is a holy family. Sister M. Candace Fier, Director of the Office of Family Life for the Diocese of New Ulm, shares about her mission to strengthen and equip families to meet today’s challenges.

Rooted in prayer, the Eucharist, and devotion to the Blessed Mother, her ministry supports couples and families through marriage preparation, natural family planning, and respect for the dignity of every human life.

Entrusting all to the Holy Family, this work seeks to build faith-filled families who become witnesses of hope in the world.

Sr. M. Rafaela, Argentina

“We try to be Mary in the world of healthcare. This means bringing people her hands, her eyes, her heart…” With these words, Sr. M. Rafaela seeks to describe the way the Sisters of Mary walk through the corridors, rooms, and hidden corners of the Mater Dei Hospital in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She defines it as a “sacred space,” because accompanying those who suffer is a privilege. She speaks of the sacred space of the “Hospital-Shrine”: the sanctuary that is the heart of each person we serve and accompany, as well as the hearts of those who share with us the mission of being instruments of the Blessed Mother—Mater Dei, Mother of God.

Living this presence in a fully secular environment, Sr. M. Rafaela experiences it in very concrete terms: I am the work and instrument of Mary, and freely, each day, I offer my “here I am.”

Sr. María Luisa, Chile

Sister María Luisa is the sacristan of the Cenacle Shrine of Bellavista in La Florida, Santiago de Chile. In this video, she shares her testimony: as an Adoration Sister, she opens the shrine each day as a sign of her self-surrender to Jesus in the Eucharist and of her love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. In this way, through prayer, attentive listening, and her presence, she accompanies those who come seeking consolation, peace, and strength.

Through her daily service, God works in people’s lives—in suffering, illness, and grief, but also in joy and love. This testimony reminds us that God is alive, that he acts today, and that he brings forth the best in each person. It is a message that renews faith and hope.

Sr. M. Françoise, Burundi

In this video, Sister Marie Françoise Nimubona presents the Queen of Trust Center in Gikungu (Bujumbura), an important Schoenstatt Movement site dedicated to the spiritual formation of young women.

Every month, members of the academic branch gather to receive guidance and to live their ideal: “To Be the Chalice”, bringing Christ into their professional and personal lives.

The video also highlights a social sewing project created to support young girls and mothers who are unemployed. Groups of 20 women follow a 6-month training program, learn a valuable profession, and gain financial independence. Several groups have already graduated and testify to their renewed autonomy.

Through the Covenant of Love, Schoenstatt contributes to unity, dignity, and social renewal in Burundi.

Sr. Christina-Maria, Germany

“And so do I want to be where God needs me.” – Sister Christina-Maria speaks about her faith, her vocation, and her life as a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary in the midst of everyday life.

In this inspiring video, Sister Christina-Maria, a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary, shares how she studies theology, lives her faith in daily life, and why the Blessed Mother Mary and the Covenant of Love have become a deep source of strength.

Between lectures, prayer, and encounters with students in Eichstätt, she experiences what it means to serve God in the midst of the world – completely ordinary, and yet completely different. She speaks openly about her daily life, her relationship with Mary, and how she has found Schoenstatt to be her spiritual home.

Sr. María José, USA

Sr. María José lives and works in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. She runs the Magnificat Household, an intentional Christian Community for young women. In this short video, she shares with us the joys and challenges of her everyday life.
