Puerto Rico

Our Schoenstatt Shrine and center in Puerto Rico are located in Cabo Rojo, near the southwest corner of the island. Our sisters welcome pilgrim groups to the shrine and host events and retreats for members of our Schoenstatt Movement, other religious communities, bishops, priests, seminarians, and various Catholic organizations.

In addition to the work with our movement, the sisters are involved in a number of apostolic initiatives. The following are unique to Puerto Rico:

The Father Joseph Kentenich Pedagogical Institute is a professional association of scholars that also includes sisters and movement members. The institute aims to “provide a forum where topics of education, politics, economy, science, communication media, and educational technology are discussed in an atmosphere of openness and faithfulness to the Catholic Church.” Schoenstatt members who belong to this association contribute especially from the pedagogy and spirituality of our founder, Father Joseph Kentenich. Every Sunday, our sisters offer the radio program Encuentro con María (Encounter with Mary), broadcast throughout the island. The sisters provide a reflection on the Sunday Mass readings in the light of Schoenstatt’s spirituality. These meditations are intended to strengthen people’s faith, hope, and love and to lead them to a deeper relationship with Our Lady, who helps us to live our baptismal covenant in daily life.
